The configuration file is here.
The file rc.conf.sample will be used to create the file rc.conf when you do 'make install'.
You should not copy anything by hand, let 'make install' do everything.
After that, you can go edit your rc.conf file that will have been
installed in the INSTALL directory. Note that the library will use the
following algorithm to load rc.conf :
1 - the current directory
2 - $HOME
3 - the install directory
