**** MøB 0.58 ****

MøB is an environment for installations and realtime multimedia manipulation. The software engine is developed by BEK ( in collaboration with programmer Carlo Prelz, and will be further developed as open source towards a multi-purpose tool for live video and interactive installations.
The project is initiated and managed by Gisle Frøysland. MøB is sposored by PNEK ( -

Compile & install

**temporary neccessary procedure for choice of videolib**

cd modules/include

ln -s mt_video_ff.h mt_video.h

Modify '' (if necessary) and do

make install (as root)

Read the docs (, make a script-file or use one of the example files (example scripts can be downloaded from cvs). Make sure you are a member of the 'staff' group, or do a 'adduser [user_name] staff' as root.

Then go:

mobloader -l 'scriptname'

If running under X:

For building and modifying scripts, use the 'mobwares' command to get a list of available modules and their parameters.

If you download from cvs, you can try the 'mob' wrapper script which automagically starts everything and loads an example intro script (requires figlet fonts installed).

Frei0r and Livido plugins

To be able to use Freior and Livido plugins, they need to be downloaded and compiled seperately. Place the compiled plugins in folders somewhere, (default locations: $HOME/.frei0r and $HOME/.livido) and set FREI0R_PATH and LIVIDO_PATH environment variables to point to these folders.

export FREI0R_PATH=$HOME/.frei0r/
export LIVIDO_PATH=$HOME/.livido/

They will then show up in the available list of effects in the effects module.

Download plugins from here:

MøB is in constant development.
We higly welcome new developers who feel the urge to get their hands dirty by digging into the code, either at the core level or by making new modules for special purposes. Please check the MøBWiki ( for the main areas in need for development.

We also welcome any requests from artists or others in need for tailored modules for projects. Please give us a note, and we'll see what can be done. The main contact point is the mailing list:
