CdGet is not just another client for mp3 file sharing on the Internet. CdGet is meant to do the work for you. In traditional file sharing/downloading clients you often end up having to watch and attend to the download in many steps. This process is usually mechanical, repetitive and boring, a perfect candidate for automatization! CdGet is meant to do exactly this, and eliminate the need for manual control over the download process.
Typically, to download the latest album of your favorite artist, you first find the titles of the songs, search and try to download them one by one. Even if this all goes well, you still have to move your files to where you want them, change their names which is probably wrong or at least not in the style you want them. This is the ideal case and still requires three stages. In the Real World, things probably get even worse. Your downloads gets interrupted when someone leaves the network you're on, transfer rate drops, the extra downloads you started to this song to at least get one correctly downloaded starts exactly when it doesn't have to, and so on.
Doing the same thing with CdGet is an easy, one step operation. You search for the wanted album or song using the huge FreeDB database, then select what songs (or complete albums) you want do download. CdGet does the rest of the work for you, searches, downloads (trying out sources to find the fastest), and finally moves your files to your configured location. The path and name of the file is configurable and can include artist, album, song title and track number, in the order and format you prefer.
