4Sports 0.0.1

4Sports is an exercise-management software. You can use it to analyse your exercises in a number of ways. Currently 4Sports is able to import data from the Garmin "Forerunner 201/301" and display some basic information in a table. It's also possible to export the tracks into Google Earth (the track is color-coded according to your heart-rate). Displaying information in graphs (like heart rate over time/distance) will come soon.

To connect to the forerunner-device 4Sports makes use of the great frX01-Toolkit from Jori Brander (see http://fr201toolkit.sourceforge.net/ ). You have to have this toolkit installed to be able to use 4Sports. (In the future there may also be other ways to input data).

HOWTO INSTALL

1.What you need:

  • Ruby (I use version 1.8, but it should work with other versions as well)
  • Qt bindings for Ruby (included in most distributions, in my Kubuntu the package is called "libqt0-ruby1.8")
  • Mysql bindings for Ruby ("libmysql-ruby1.8" in Kubuntu)
  • FRX01-Toolkit (for setup-instructions see http://fr201toolkit.sourceforge.net/ )

2.Installing 4Sports

  • Untar the archive
  • edit 4Sports.rc (you have to set at least database-information and the full path to the FRX01-readTrackData-script, the FR_DEV-variable should be ok, if you use a FR301)
  • run 4Sports.rb

KNOWN BUGS

  • When importing data from the FR201/301 the tables are erased completely row by row, which doesn't look very nice. In Qt3 there's no table.clear() command
