GRender - Render queue manager for A|W Maya and MentalRay Copyright (C) 2003 Davide Petilli
GRender is a gtk frontend for the "Alias Maya" and "MentalRay" batch render. It's based on the Maya's "Render" and Mray's "mayarender_with_mr" commands. The advantage of using GRender is its support for a lot of switches and its help in managing render jobs arranged in a handy render-queue.
Using GRender you can add Maya's scene files both in ASCII or MayaBinary format, manage render properties in a box similar to Maya's "RenderGlobals", send jobs to the queue and manage its arrangement changing jobs position, monitoring status etc. All that without starting Maya, using all the power of your workstation.
GRender is developed for Linux, but maybe it can run on other "*x" operating systems like UNIX, IRIX, FreeBSD etc. It's also possible in the future a porting on Windows and Mac platforms.
It's planned to add support for RenderMan renderers in the future and maybe even other renderers could be managed through GRender.
