Hissim is a program that can be used to populate a world using a history script. See the doc directory for a more detailed description.
- Using
In tkhissim, just press the button go. It will update the history a bit. You can use the scale to set the year to update into. The cancel button can be used to stop simulation in threaded mode. Almost all the configuration can be done with the GUI. Experiment with country settings to see how they effect to population growth etc. You can generate a genealogy file from your history (file -> export gedcom). The gedcom file should be readable by most genealogy programs, like geneweb (http://cristal.inria.fr/~ddr/GeneWeb).
Command line: "./hissim -dump" will generate and dump 100 years of history from beginning. "./hissim -year year -update file" will update your history at 'file' up to 'year'. "./hissim -gedcom file" will export your file to gedcom. "./hissim -script file" will read configs from 'file' instead of 'config.hissim'. Type "./hissim -help" or see the manual for other commands.
The file 'config.hissim' has the default configurations now. It can be also used for scripting the events into history etc. The manual has a lot of information about the commands in the configuration language.
About maps:
The size of maps is so that a pixel means 4 km. The bigger map, the bigger
world. The amount of green in map.png means how good conditions there are in a
place. Other colours are currently ignored.
