Tickletankle - a 2 player tank game with fractal terrain
1) Requirements
The game requires Tcl/Tk 8.3 or later, available from http://www.tcl.tk.
2) Execution
No compilation is required. Start the game by entering
./tickletankle.tcl
or
wish tickletankle.tcl
3) Playing
Player 1:
Arrow left/right: Move left/right
Arrow up: Rotate cannon counterclockwise
Arrow down: Rotate cannon clockwise
Shift: Load cannon - release Shift to fire it
Player 2: (By default, the second player is controlled by the computer. This
can be changed in the "Settings" screen.)
x/c: Move left/right
a: Rotate cannon counterclockwise
q: Rotate cannon clockwise
Control: Load cannon - release Control to fire it
The longer you hold Shift (Control, respectively), the faster the bullet.
To play across the Internet or a LAN, one player has to host a game by clicking "File"->"Host game...". If you are behind a firewall, make sure to configure it so that the other player can connect (via port 8563, by default). Find out your IP address (for example, execute "/sbin/ifconfig"). Let your mate know this IP via e-mail, ICQ or phone.
The other player chooses "File"->"Join game...", enters the IP that the first player gave him and clicks "Connect". The game is started automatically. Both players control their tanks using the arrow keys and use "Shift" to load the cannon.
4) Acknowledgements and Thanks
I first saw the idea in Giovanni Tummarello's game "Fractal Fighters". Thank you very much for releasing such a fun game as freeware!
