Tactics Squad 0.3 Release Notes:

Welcome to Tactics Squad and thank you very much for checking it out. In this release, you can now play the first tutorial mission of the game. You will be able to move a single soldier and order him to fire and throw grenades to stationary targets.

  • INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS:

Unzip the downloaded file to the directory of your choice. Then run Tactics.exe

  • INSTALLATION FOR LINUX:

Unzip and untar the downloaded file to the directory of your choice. Run ./Tactics.

  • TROUBLESHOOTING:

If the game fails to start, it may be because of a bad configuration (Tactics.ini), you should edit the file, the first line is the screen width, the second one is the screen height and the third one is the bit depth. Set them to a configuration that works, if no one does, please report the failure at the project's page at sourceforge: http://tacticsgame.sourceforge.net

You can also try deleting the configuration file and letting the game start with the default.

You should also check that the files fontc.bmp and Cmd.bmp are in the same directory as the executable file.

In Linux, check that the SDL and OpenGL runtime libraries are correctly installed.

  • HOW TO PLAY:

The game starts at the Main Menu, the buttons are pretty self explanatory, remember that the Load Game button does not work yet.

If you press the New Game button, you will be presented with a top down view of the first level, the green lines are the wall of each room and the blue lines are the doors. The red triangle is your soldier.

This release includes the first complete tutorial mission, just follow the explanations found on the lower part of the screen.

To exit the game press the ESC key and the Game Menu will reappear, then select Quit Game and confirm your selection.
